Amelie Laurice

Amelie Laurice, the artist behind

Desert Moonrise, is an emerging artist who grew up in California.

The Desert Moonrise identity was born from a series of camping, climbing, and trekking adventures in the Californian deserts - or as she likes to call it: her “own backyard”, and around the Southwest including New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. Her recent works often

reveal influence of Georgia O’Keeffe and Maynard Dixon, two artists she admires.

The desert purifies, the heart and soul. It gives the opportunity to be isolated with her thoughts and the pure presence of nature’s power to heal, which is reminiscent of her transformative experience at a 10-day silent meditation retreat.

She has been recently featured on SAATCHI ART: Chief Curator’s Picks and ARTSY: Curator’s Pick Emerging Artist. In 2021, LA TIMES featured her work in the “27 Coolest Work Made-In-LA” category.

Amelie has been a hands-on co-owner/curator as well as resident artist at the Dorado 806 Projects art gallery in Santa Monica, California. With the help  of  her gallery partner, Meghan DeRoma, their collective continues to grow as one of the most impactful artist community in downtown Santa Monica

Artist Statement

The WITCHING HOUR series relate to the supernatural events, whereby witches, demons and ghosts, are taught to appear to be their most powerful.

To me, the witching hour, similar to the golden hour, is when we feel the most spiritual. It’s within this hour I feel connected to an otherworldly presence; whether it’s my deep consciousness, or another being from unexplainable dimension; I can feel myself lifted and connected to a divine energy through a portal. Some might feel the same way in a more religious manner, or reminiscent of a plant medicine rituals. Whatever it may be or whatever you believe in, we all feel this connectedness if you learn to open the portal through deeper state of consciousness.

Let the witching hour become your guide to conjure up your higher self and trust the power in you.
