Born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California, Cortney developed a deep appreciation for nature from a young age. She spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors and observing the subtle nuances of the environment around her, learning about the beauty and importance of staying present in the moment. This connection and deep appreciation for nature would later become a driving force behind her artistic vision.

She also believes that color has the power to evoke emotions and create a sense of atmosphere, and she carefully creates her palette to convey a particular mood or feeling. Her paintings are often suffused with warm, earthy tones that create a sense of harmony and tranquility.

One of Cortney’s favorite subjects is the human form, which she portrays in a way that emphasizes the unique moments in time where we can be lost in a daydream or deep in thought.
