e . y . reilly is a jungian artist and astrologer who holds a master’s degree in social work. she is a wildly eccentric and reclusive iconoclast on the wayward path of individuation as well as a scholar, autodidact, and practitioner of archetypal, humanistic, and attachment psychologies.
her unexpected soiree into visual arts began in 2022, when at the age of 33, after decades of creative self-exile, she began to weave passages from carl jung’s “memories, dreams, reflections” together with vintage media into provocative visual poems, puns, and paradoxes.
she has since created hundreds of works which she hopes will continue to evolve in ways yet unforeseen. here, she shares herself as finds herself . . . one fragment at a time . . .

Artist Statement
"Anything, so long as it is not like Mother! This daughter knows what she does not want, but is completely at sea as to what she would choose as her own fate... Her instincts are concentrated on the mother in the negative form of resistance and therefore of no use to her in building her own life. All instinctive processes meet with unexpected difficulties… the children are unwanted, or maternal duties seem unbearable. Resistance to the mother can create a sphere of interest in which the mother has no place..." -Carl Gustav Jung, The Collected Works Vol. 9 These works represent my journey through the shadow of the mother archetype, the painful exploration and transcendence of my own negative mother complex. While I have yet to become a mother of biological children, bearing these images, these intellectual children, has delivered me to the potential of one day becoming the good mother I once believed I could never be.
