“Into Nature“ 2023, Acrylic on canvas 36 X 36 inches

The Space Between: In this series each painting serves as a portal into a world where solitary figures, akin to ants in scale, embark on a journey through vast and foreboding landscapes.

There’s always hope. When I paint, I embark on a journey of self- discovery, using color, scale, and composition to create imaginative interconnected landscapes. I follow the emotional currents of each painting, working through feelings until they harmonize with the canvas. Through composition exploration, I aim to instill a sense of hope, a beacon of light amid life's challenges. In every artwork, there's a palpable sense of optimism and risk, mirroring life's journey.

The paintings reflect my personal journey navigating life's experiences, alone in thought yet united in the pursuit of growth and understanding. Continuously forging my path, I encounter new obstacles and beauties that shape my narrative and enrich my life with depth and meaning. Amidst it all, hope persists, guiding me towards the next chapter of life.

Amanda Oleander (b. 1989, Fort Lauderdale, FL). Amanda Oleander (b. 1989, Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work explores the complexities of human connection and the subtle beauty found in everyday life. She earned her BFA in painting and illustration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has since developed a distinctive style that merges surrealism with emotional realism.

Working across drawing, painting, writing, sculpture, and print, Oleander’s latest series follows solitary figures—small in scale but full of purpose—as they journey through vast, foreboding landscapes. Guided by personal experience, she allows color, scale, and composition to shape each piece, letting emotions unfold and find harmony on the canvas. Her work captures the delicate balance between solitude and connection, uncertainty and possibility, revealing the invisible threads that unite everything. Even in the most expansive, uncharted territories, her paintings offer a quiet beacon of hope—reminding us that the journey forward is always worth taking, and that, ultimately, everything is connected.

“Even in the most uncharted places, there’s light. There’s always the possibility of something new.” – AO
