Ubiquitous to human experience, the expanse of Mother archetypes shows up, interwoven, inextricable, throughout all of civilization. On a societal level and a deeply personal one. This is a point where the personal collides head-on with the universal, in a big bang sort of way. Mother energy can be meme-ified, homogenized, and platitudized. Mother knows best! And mother energy can be as specific as that particular bottle of perfume or the way the napkin must be folded on the dinner table.

When you hear Mother, do you think of your own? Do you think about the space that was never occupied? Do you think of your children, your descendants, your ancestors? Tracing the mother line is a way to discover ourselves, and following the thread allows for a reflection on just how this energy lays foundation for relationships, inner truth, healing and the way forward. This curation hones in on the ways the mother shows up in modern practice, the act of curation an exploration of the archetype itself. Whether you experience life as a mother or have experienced mother energy from another, it is inherent to the human experience, a commonality that cannot be commonized and a wellspring for relational beings.

Mother will be shown in collaboration with the Torrance Art Museum at the Tryst Art Fair. Del Amo Crossing, Torrance, CA. Exhibition dates at 08/23-08/25/24.
